We Make A Difference

Learning and Teaching

At Corpus Christi, we are committed to providing a rich, engaging and inclusive learning environment where every student is supported to achieve success and flourish as a learner. Grounded in our Catholic faith and inspired by the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) vision, we nurture the intellectual, spiritual, social and emotional growth of each child.

We believe that all students can learn and achieve success when provided with high-quality teaching, strong relationships and opportunities to be active participants in their learning. As a community of lifelong learners, we foster curiosity, creativity and a love of learning, empowering students to become confident, capable and compassionate contributors to their world.

Excellence Through Explicit Teaching

At Corpus Christi, we recognise that effective instruction is fundamental to student success. Our teaching practices are informed by evidence-based approaches and the MACS Vision for Instruction.

Teachers provide:

  • Explicit teaching of essential knowledge and skills
  • Structured and sequential learning experiences
  • Guided practice with timely feedback
  • Opportunities for application, reflection and extension
  • Ongoing assessment to inform teaching and learning

Through explicit instruction, students develop strong foundations in literacy and numeracy while building confidence and independence as learners.

Learning experiences that are purposeful, challenging and relevant. Students are encouraged to ask questions, investigate ideas, solve problems and think deeply about the world around them.

Inquiry learning enables students to:

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively
  • Apply knowledge to authentic situations
  • Explore issues through the lens of faith and Catholic social teaching

These capabilities support students to become adaptable learners who can confidently navigate an ever-changing world.
